Star Alliance customers travelling from Rome can look forward to a new premium lounge experience at Fiumicino Airport. The new Star Alliance Lounge will welcome eligible First and Business Class passengers and Star Alliance Gold Card holders as of June 29th onwards.

Located on the upper level of Boarding Zone D in Terminal 3, the lounge provides easy access to the departure gates for Alliance member carrier flights to European destinations in the Schengen Zone*.

All Star Alliance branded lounges are designed to provide a unique local experience. In Rome, Italian designer furniture gives an elegant, modern and fashionable look, along with functional spaces to work, relax or socialise in. This goes hand in hand with an exciting Italian inspired culinary experience, ranging from a staffed bar and barista coffee station, to made to order signature dishes.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the lounge, with a mix of standard and USB power outlets ensuring that customers can recharge their electronic devices. A private space for making phone calls is also available. The lounge can accommodate around 130 guests and will open daily from 05:15 to 21:15.

“Star Alliance has set itself the overall goal of improving the customer’s travel experience. Offering a premium lounge product is an integral part of this strategy. Our new Rome Lounge expands the network of Star Alliance branded lounges to seven and offers our customers flying from the ‘Eternal City’ a state of the art lounge experience”, said Christian Draeger, Vice President Customer Experience, Star Alliance.

At Fiumicino, Star Alliance has cooperated with Aviapartner and Aeroporti di Roma to refurbish an existing lounge space, creating the first dedicated alliance lounge at the airport.

“We are very pleased to begin this partnership with Star Alliance as their product and vision perfectly matches the service and quality philosophy of Aviapartner Group” explains the General Manager of Aviapartner Group Lounges and Premium Guest Services, Mr. Italo Russo Silva .”We are convinced that this partnership will be the beginning of future agreements “.

“Improving the quality of the services we offer is our primary commitment,” stated Ivan Bassato, Director of Airport Management for Aeroporti di Roma. “We have worked alongside Aviapartner and Star Alliance to create an innovative and functional space that speaks for the high standards of quality achieved by Fiumicino. Only a few days ago, the Airports Council International presented our airport with the Best Airport Award 2018, the most important award in our industry. Results of this calibre are only achieved by working with constant commitment and the essential contribution of the main partners that operate daily at the airport, including Star Alliance and Aviapartner. With this new lounge, they have increased and improved the premium offer for passengers in Boarding Area D flying to Europe on short and medium-haul flights”, he continued.

In total 17 Star Alliance member carriers serve Rome, providing non-stop service to 25 destinations in 20 countries.

Star Alliance offers passengers travelling in First or Business Class on any of its 28 member carriers or those holding Star Alliance Gold status access to more than 1.000 lounges across the entire global network#. In addition to member airlines’ own lounges and those operated by third parties, Star Alliance now has seven Alliance branded lounges: Buenos Aires (EZE), Los Angeles (LAX) – voted best Airline Alliance Lounge by Skytrax for three years running , Nagoya (NGO), Paris (CDG), Rio de Janeiro (GIG), Rome (FCO) and São Paulo (GRU).

In order to further enhance its offer, Star Alliance is developing a new lounge in Amsterdam. Set to open in early 2019, it will feature its own unique design and include many contemporary Dutch design icons.

Moreover, the existing lounges in Nagoya and Paris Charles-de-Gaulle Airport will be refurbished, further improving the customer’s experience.
