Ghana Association of Aviation Training Organizations pay courtesy call on the Minister of Aviation

Members of the yet to be inaugurated Ghana Association of Aviation Training Organizations (GAATO) paid a courtesy call to the Minister of Aviation, Joseph Kofi Adda on the 8th May 2019.

Representatives from about thirteen aviation institutions showed up for this all-important meeting to discuss on issues pertaining to the aviation Industry. 

With the vision of the President to make Ghana an aviation hub in the sub-region, the minister shared his view that it will be great for the aviation schools to position themselves well in Ghana and West Africa as a whole by obtaining credible certification to standardize their schools. He also tasked the schools to add a second language like French, Spanish or German etc. to their curricula to broaden their horizon.

GAATO thanked the minister for his audience and appreciated what he had been doing in the industry since he came to office but they had some concerns they wanted worked. Lack of employment and industrial attachment for students, Lack of adequate support to the aviation institutions by government and aviation companies operating with unqualified staff who they train on the job as a means to beat down cost.

The Minister asked for a two-day off-site workshop with the institutions to further deliberate on the issues so that some policies could be made to enable him send to parliament.
