Here’s why EgyptAir suspended flights to China to avoid coronavirus

3rd Feb 2020 | Emmanuel Kojo

EgyptAir has announced the suspension of its flights from and to Chinese cities.

Hangzhou flights will be suspended starting from February 1, 2020, and then Beijing and Guangzhou starting from February 4, as the last Chinese touristic group is leaving Egypt on this day.

This is due to the outbreak of Coronavirus which is spreading in the country.

Coronavirus is making its way rapidly across China by infecting hundreds with the virus and killing at least four people since December.

Coronaviruses are a group of viruses that included the likes of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS).

The latest discovery relating to the coronavirus group is the seventh to be discovered and has proved to be fatal, with four deaths coming from China as a result of the latest outbreak.

However, EgyptAir said until the coronavirus situation stabilises, no flight will be allowed to China.
