Competition among West African carriers along the west coast corridor has continued to increase by the day as more airlines have continued to open new routes to meet the need of air travellers in the region.
This is just as Asky Airline, the biggest and most successful carrier in the region recently announced that it will be starting flight operations to the Gambia.
According to a post by Mr Ikechi Uko on his facebook page, the airline said it will commence its operation the Gambia from the 1st of November linking Lagos, Accra to Banjul 3 times a week.
The airline disclose that it is also opening Accra-Freetown and Accra-Monrovia flight operations on the 1st of November.
Atqnews.com reports that the Pan African Airline, had earlier launched daily flight operations between Lagos and Accra and between Accra and Abuja.
According to the airline, this is in line with ASKY’s mission to seamlessly connect West and Central Africa, making business and leisure travel easy and reducing the flying time it takes to connect cities in the Region.
With the new service the airline said, passengers will be able to connect these cities everyday departing in the morning and arriving later in the day.
Similarly, Medview Airline will on Friday October 27, 2017 start flight operations into Abidjan in the Ivory Coast, Conakry in Guinea and Dakar, the Senegal Capital in a bid to increase its presence on the West Coast routes.
According to the Nigerianflightdeck.com, airline said it is poised to commence flights into the three new cities, to bring its routes on the West Coast to six destinations as Accra, Monrovia and Freetown are already on its network.
The flights to the new destinations will be three times a week – Monday, Wednesday and Friday with early departures (7.30am) from Lagos.
Also, one of West Africa’s leading airline, Air Cote D’Ivoire had earlier in the year deepened its operation on the Abidjan-Accra route when it increased its schedule to 11 flights per week.
According to the airline, it is also increasing its flight frequencies to several destinations in West and Central Africa in order to ensure that it broadens it reach along the West Coast.
Atqnews.com reported that the airline had in April increased it flight frequencies to Dakar to 14 flights per week, operating two flights per day.
The airline stated that it will operate 11 flights per week to Cotonou, Libreville, Accra and Lome.
Air Cote D’Ivoire also revealed that it will also increase it frequencies to Bamako to 10 flights per week and 9 flights per week to Conakry, the Guinean capital.
It said it will operate 7 flights per week to Brazzaville, Ougadougou, Niamey and Monrovia.
