TOURA takes us through history by discovering an exceptional Queen – Mother that must be known absolutely!
Her Majesty Queen Mother Dr Dòwòti Désir Hounon Houna II Guely, from the Royal Palace of Dada Daagbo Hounon Houna, the Supreme Leader of the Vodou Hwendo.
A bi-continental woman, the Queen Mother lives between the United States of America and the Republic of Benin.
In nearly six hundred years, she is the first American woman to be designated as crowned head in Benin; the first Haitian to be inducted into the African continent, and the first Kpodjito publicly inducted in the Republic of Benin since the end of the 19th century.
Educator, lecturer, researcher and activist, she is a thought leader in the fields of spiritual reparations, heritage tourism and post-modern human geography.
She is Manbo Asogwe (High Priestess) in Haitian voodoo and head of the secret societies of Zangbeto and Egungun which are two Vodou divinities.
Queen Mother of our time, Her Majesty is pan-Africanist par excellence. Founder of the AfroAtlantic Theologies & Treaties Institute, she travels extensively to promote the human rights of African descendants around the world.
Queen Mother Dr Dòwòti Désir is also an author and exhibition curator (curator). Her work focuses on issues of cultural and spatial production, particularly with regard to sacred and contemporary art forms produced by Afro-descendants.
The Queen Mother is also dedicated to product development, sustainable energy production and the reconstruction of the primary school of the Royal Palace.
An Interfaith Leader and Manbo Asogwe, Queen Mother Dr Dòwòti Désir is also a Reverend Doctor who provides spiritual guidance, spiritual direction and organizes workshops for individuals and organizations.
The versatile profile of this influential woman shows us first and foremost that women are capable of tremendous achievement and that they have the capacity to be whatever they aspire to be. Second, we can remember that contrary to popular belief, Vodou is not only a religion but also a science. And this science can also be advocated and taught by women.
The Queen Mother, thanks to high-level studies and her American approach to Vodou culture and life in general, brings a touch of modernity to this timeless religion.
Let’s pay a tribute to Queen Mother Dr Dòwòti Désir by sharing this biography of hers with the world!
