United Airlines has been tasked to provide excellent customer service to passengers flying from Washington DC, Dulles International Airport to Accra, Kotoka International Airport, and vice versa.

This statement was made by the Managing Director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited, Yaw Kwakwa, during the inauguration ceremony of the re-launch of passenger flight services by United airlines into Accra. “We believe that United Airlines will provide excellent customer service to passengers so that together we can make traveling through Kotoka International Airport a memorable and delightful experience” – Kwakwa said.

The MD of GACL reiterated the fact that the company was “committed to providing smooth facilitation to enable United Airlines to achieve a consistently high on-time departure and arrival performance. This is in line with our mission of providing world-class facilities and services for the benefit of our stakeholders.”

United Airlines flight UA996 left Dulles International Airport on Friday the 14th of May at 18:15hrs local time and landed at Kotoka International Airport at 8:08hrs local time. This flight was the first after its re-launch of non-stop flights by the airline in operating that route. The schedule for this route will be for every Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday of every week from Washington, DC at 1815hrs and Monday, Thursday, and Saturday from Accra, Ghana at 23:45hrs all local times.

This is the second time United has operated to Accra from its Washington, DC hub. The carrier’s first route in Africa was Ghana in June 2010 but was dropped in July 2012. This is a welcome return for the over 235,000 Ghanaians in the US to have a direct flight from a hub as the Dulles International Airport (IAD) to Ghana.
