The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) celebrated its 37th anniversary on Tuesday with the theme 37 years of world-class regulation and air navigation services within the aviation industry.
ING. Charles Ebo Krakuie, the Director General of the GCAA said that, ”for thirty-seven years, GCAA has proudly provided world-class regulation and air navigation services within the aviation industry, connecting people and cultures from all world regions.”
He made mention that the authority was respected in ”international circles as one of the best industry players in Africa due in part to its uncompromising stance on air safety in the sub-region – a milestone for which the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) now considers it a Champion State” and this achievement was due to the hardworking staff GCAA had had over the years.
With this in mind, the authority marked the event to celebrate and appreciate their retired staff who dedicated their life career to the GCAA. The years of service of some of these staff spanned from between 14 years to the longest being 42 years. A certificate and a plaque with a message of appreciation was presented to over ten outstanding retired staff.
A former Director General of GCAA, Wg Cdr Andy Mensah (Rtd), in his address encouraged the authority to be self-reliant on their generated revenue to remain independent of government interference.
