South African Airways (SAA) has resumed flight operations to Accra after 18 months of absence from the skies.
Flight SA052 touchdown at the Kotoka International Airport on the 28th September, 2021 around 11pm. The Airbus A320 was welcomed back to KIA with a water canon salute with a culture display.

The resumption of the Accra route is part of the first phase of the airline’s strategy in restarting its operations. This was made known to stakeholders during the relaunch ceremony by the country manager, Gloria Wilkinson Mensah.

The airline will fly a nonstop service from Johannesburg to Accra and back,three times in a week, i.e. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 1700hrs and 2235hrs respectively.
Tickets are already on sale.
SAA’s Interim CEO Thomas Kgokolo says the week is a “proud and significant one for SAA and its staff as well as all South African citizens. Our journey back to the skies has not been easy and I pay tribute to our dedicated workforce in all areas of the business all of whom have and are putting in long hours ahead of this day. People in every facet of the business want nothing more than for SAA to succeed and for us to build a new airline based on safety and exemplary customer service.”
