The Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) has reveiewed its COVID 19 guidelines at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA). Children between the ages of 5-12 years will now undergo testing at the arrival hall for free effective Monday 16 November, 2020.
The GACL on Friday posted an update of the guidelines, “Children between the ages of 5-12years will undergo testing on arrival free of charge.”
“This directive is to relieve families of the arrival test financial burden during the upcoming festive season”, a director of the company said.
Prior to the review of the guidelines, all arriving passengers with the exception of children under 5 years at were required to make an online payment of usd150.00 for the mandatory COVID 19 Antigen test before boarding of their flight at the point of origin toKotoka International Airport (KIA)-Ghana.
This was a directive from Frontier HealthCare and Ghana Airports Company Limited which was given to all airlines. According to the communique, “Passengers are required to show proof of payment to airlines as a condition for boarding of flights to KIA”.
A sample of a receipt for the online payment must be shown to the airlines before a passenger will be admitted to board the plane for Ghana.
Ghana opened its international air borders on the 1st of September to commercial travel and one of the rules for passage was a mandatory covid test worth usd150.00 for arriving passengers.
