An aviation icon in Ghana goes home today. One of the pillars in the domestic aviation space Percy Manford also known as Paa Kwesi Percy Manford or PK has been called up and his final funeral rites starts today.
We have lost a gem, mentor, trainer and a friend. We pray for the peaceful repose of his soul. PK, you will be missed. Sleep well. Thanks for all you did for us. You instilled the spirit of aviation within us and we will forever be grateful. Bye bye. God be with you. #pkmanford #ghanaaviation
Today, I stand here to pay tribute to my mentor and father in the aviation industry Paa Kwesi Manford. P.K as I affectionately called him was a dynamic, strong and hard working man who invested most of his life in building the aviation industry in Ghana. He touched the lives of so many young people in the industry.
After multiple take offs and landings, one of the brains behind the successful operations of airline businesses in the Ghanaian aviation space has finally landed and unfortunately can’t take off again.
I have known P.K. for almost two decades and my first encounter with him was an awesome one. I was a young lady straight from the SHS who got an employment in Antrak Air. My posting was in Tamale. Immediately he saw little me, he asked why i agreed to work in Tamale because to him it was no place for a baby like me.
We hit it off right from there. And its been one opportunity from the other. I was like his personal assistant and helped him with all his trainings. I grew in the industry because he mentored me well. Working in Starbow Airlines with him was a breeze because he always got my back and I got his.
PK, heading ground operations and training employees for the best part of your life was your passion. Your dedication to providing professional services to passengers across all networks was unmatched. Your selflessness to ensure a smooth operation at the end of every day was exceptional.
We will miss you. The aviation industry has indeed lost a gem. It was an honor to have known and worked with you for all these years. Rest well PK
. God grant you eternal rest.
From your little girl (Obaapa Lizzy Sasu)
