Following the decision of the Government of Cabo Verde to suspend all flights between Italy and Cabo Verde until March 20, 2020 due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic, Cabo Verde Airlines has implemented a strategy to protect all passengers with flights booked for the mentioned period.

As part of the passenger’s protection strategy, passengers with tickets in the referred period that have not yet started their journeys (whether between Cabo Verde / Italy / Cabo Verde and with origin / destination elsewhere in the CVA network via Cabo Verde), will be able to rebook tickets for dates after the restriction period without any penalties (COVID-19 reissue code) or get full refund of the unused ticket or part of the ticket unused in case they have already started their journey before this restriction.

As a result of the Corona Virus COVID-19 epidemic in Italy, the Government of Cape Verde by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers N.º 35/2020 of 27-02-2020 suspended all flights between Italy and Cape Verde for a period of three (3) weeks, with immediate effect and until the 20th of March 2020.

The Government’s decision is based on the Country’s public health and safety, and Cabo Verde Airlines will work hand-in-hand with the Government to ensure passengers’ safety.

Cabo Verde Airlines will implement the following flexible strategy to assist and facilitate customer rebooking on alternatives flights on the routes Sal-Malpensa-Sal and Sal-Rome-Sal for their final destinations using exclusively Cabo Verde Airlines flights with rebooking, refunds, and route modifications.

General Conditions

Cabo Verde Airlines offers the possibility to all passengers with travel reservations in the said period (and who have not yet started their journeys either between Cape Verde/Italy/Cape Verde and vice-versa or Brazil/Italy/Brazil and vice-versa via Cape Verde, or Senegal/Italy/Senegal and vice-versa via Cape Verde), the alternative of re-route of their tickets for dates after the period of restriction without any penalties (COVID-19 ticket re-issue code) or a full refund of the unused ticket sector if the customer has already started the trip before this restriction.

Special Conditions

For the passengers staying in Italy and who began the journey to Milan or Rome before this restriction, Cabo Verde Airlines is not allowed to rebook those passengers, as this is an express violation of the resolution of restricting the entry of passengers from Italy to Cabo Verde even via third countries, and is considered severe violation of Government’s restrictions.

The routing changes of the original tickets Malpensa-Sal or Rome-Sal are only allowed for Lisbon-Sal or Paris-Sal, and original tickets Malpensa-Sal-Fortaleza/Recife/Porto Alegre or Rome-Sal-Fortaleza/Recife/Porto Alegre are also allowed for Lisbon-Sal-Fortaleza/Recife/Porto Alegre or Paris-Sal-Fortaleza/Recife/Porto Alegre under self-connection of Milan-Lisbon, Rome-Lisbon or Paris-Lisbon by direct and sole responsibility of the passenger.

For passengers who have started their travels in Italy and have a destination of Cape Verde and Brazil or Senegal via Cape Verde, and wish to return to Italy before the end of the period of the restrictions, Cabo Verde Airlines allows the possibility of changing the original route of the tickets.

i.e. Sal-Malpensa or Sal-Rome to Sal-Lisbon or Sal-Paris as the final destination and under the self-connection of Lisbon/ Milan or Rome or Paris/Milan or Rome by direct and sole responsibility of the passenger. For customers impacted by these changes, please contact us at:
